BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE READING CULTURE FOR VILLAGE COMMUNITY

UNY Postgraduate Students Association have implemented community service programs through the Sahabat Desa (SADESA) program. This program was carried out online on 19 November 2020 with the theme "Strong Literacy, Great Village: Building a Sustainable Community Reading Culture".

The purpose of SADESA is to increase literacy and build a reading culture for rural communities during the industrial revolution 4.0 and during the current Covid-19 pandemic. Literacy has a very important role in overcoming the problems of social life in society. Especially in dealing with hoax news that appears in the community.

The SADESA program was attended by 237 participants from various regions. Maman Suherman, who has been known as a literacy activist, was present as a resource for the webinar. Kang Maman conveyed the importance of literacy for the community, not only for those who live in cities but also in villages. After the presentation of the material, the participants had the opportunity to ask questions interactively. In closing, the participants were also entertained by a poetry musical read by Lina Dwi Puryanti, S.Sos. (kmp/ant, Tj.Lak)
