Community Service Program in the Special Semester

“The Community Service Program should not interfere with fasting month activities. Therefore, keeping fit and showing tolerance are the keys to conduct the program sucessfully,” said Wardan Suyanto, Ed.D., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Yogyakarta State University to Community Service Program students of Special Semester on Friday (26/6/2015) at the university Sport Hall.
He asked the students to contribute to the community by sharing their skills and knowedge. The students also should take more care during the travel to and from the program locations, considering the increasing traffic before Ied day.
According to the Director of Institute of Research and Community Service, Prof. Anik Ghufron, the Community Service Program will be held from 1 July to 31 August. It will bedivided into two shifts. “The first shift is from 1 to 31 July which is Community Service Program for Education Study Program students,” he said. “The second shift is from 1 to 31 August for Non-education Study Program, whereas the Education Study Program Students take Teacher Practice Program,” he said.
The program is participated by 4.772 students consisting of 3.771 students for the first shift and 1.001 students for the second shift. It takes place in seven regencies, namely Sleman, Bantul, Gunungkidul, Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta, Klaten and Magelang.
Anik Puji Rahayu from Civic Education Study Program said that the program provides valuable experience, whereas Aris from Physical, Health and Recreation Education Study Program said that he is able to practice his skills through this program. (dedy)
