Covid-19 does not stop the 2020 Energy Saving Car Contest (KMHE). This competition was continued to be held at Universitas Indonesia on 26-30 November 2020 online. In this competition, the Garuda UNY Team won two titles, namely 1st place in the Internal Combustion Engine and Transmission Criteria and 3rd Winner Overall Criteria.

In the 2020 KMHE with the theme "Energy for the Nation", the Garuda UNY Team had to compete with 110 teams from 74 universities in Indonesia. This contest is divided into two categories, namely the prototype and urban concept categories. The two categories also have several criteria that are contested including Body Aerodynamic Design Criteria, Body and Chassis Design Criteria, Steering and Braking System Criteria, Internal Combustion Engine and Transmission Criteria, Criteria for Electric Motors and Control Systems, Process Design and Production Management Criteria, and Criteria Overall. Garuda UNY Team itself won the Urban Concept Category vehicle design in Criterion 4, namely Internal Combustion Engine and Transmission and Overall Criteria.

Manager of KMHE GUT 2020, Kesit Bayu Purnomo, who is a 3rd semester automotive student, said that even though it was still in a pandemic period, the team coordination remained solid and unified. In this case the advisor also plays a very important role in monitoring the progress of the team's work. The challenges that GUT experienced in this competition were having to be able to learn new things quickly and catch up on targets because KMHE previously was an offline contest.

The team expected that this successful participation will be a solid base for further achievement and innovation. Once the celebration done, the team will have the next competition, on Shell Eco-Marathon (SEM), Student Formula Japan (SFJ), and International Student Car Competition (ISCC).
