GURT’S RACE CAR IS READY TO COMPETE IN JAPAN

Yogyakarta State University (UNY) is again on the march in the Formula Student competition Japan (SFJ), (2/9), some 20 students from the Garuda UNY Racing Team (GURT) and 2 lecturers flew to Japan to participate in the competition. In this year, GURT is competing its vehicle named FG 16.

After landing in Japan, the team immediately rushed to Fujinomiya for setting the FG 16 which had landed first through the cargo. The setting of the vehicle was carried by the Powertrain division, Engine division, Body, Electric, as well as Stering Brake and Suspension for almost 6 hours, including filling of Motul oil from engine lubricants to mineral oil on the brakes of the vehicle. In order to maximize vehicle’s performance, FG 16 conducted test drive at Shiraito Fujinomiya Speedland.

Formula Student 2016 Japan (SFJ) is a prestigious competition, followed by universities from around the world. The competition lasted for 5 days, from 6 September to 10 September 2016 in Ecopa Stadium, Shizuoka, Japan. The competition in the SFJ is divided into two domains, namely Static and Dynamic Event. In the domain of Static Event, the competition that took place was Cost Report, Design Report, and Business Logic Plan. While in the domain of Dynamic Event, the competition that took place was Acceleration, Skidpad, Autocross, Endurance and Efficiency. The team must make sure to qualify the scrutineering process before advancing to the Dynamic Event. In the process of scrutineering, the vehicle will be tested from various aspects. These aspects which are tested such as, the completeness of vehicle, braking, noise, tilt up to thr racer's ability to recognize rules on the track. (Rahmat Hidayat)
