INFO SESSION ON HEALTH IN UNY

People can get an infectious disease if their immune system is weak and comes in contact with the cause of the infection. To prevent that, it is important to have clean and healthy living habit, keeping hands clean and implementing food safety. Such statement is given by dr. RL Ambardini from Faculty of Sport sciences UNY at Info Session for Lecturers and Staff on Thursday (9/26). According to her, personal health immunity can be maintained through healthy life application, regular exercise, having balances nutritious diet and good stress management. She also underlines the importance of having safe food handling. “You can start it by keeping the food hygiene,  cooking method and storage,” Ambardini said.

Another speaker, dr. NovitaIntanArofah in her presentation said that the causes of infection were bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. "Examples of diseases caused by bacteria are typhoid fever and tuberculosis," Novita said.

The activity with the theme 'Strategy for the Management and Prevention of Infectious Diseases' was attended by 60 lecturers and employees of UNY. Opened by the Head bureau of General Affairs, Planning and Finance UNY,Sukirdjo, who in his speech said that as a worker at UNY, it will achieve maximum results if it is physically and mentally healthy. "This activity is part of our efforts to be healthy," said Sukirdjo. According to him in working must be good at managing themselves and time, for this activity is expected to be useful as well as more able to know about personal health.

This activity is a regular activity of UNY's health services and is carried out in order to provide knowledge to lecturers and employees about infectious diseases. One of the participants, MuhsinatunSiasah said that this activity was very helpful for employees and lecturers in maintaining their health, because the lecturers and staff were preoccupied with their daily work so they tended to be negligent in paying attention to their health. Muhsinatun hopes that this activity can be routinely held with exposure to various other health problems. In addition to health education, participants were also given a free blood sugar, cholesterol and uric acid check. (Dedy)
