BIPA program (Indonesian Language and Culture Course for Foreigners) of YSU has transformed into a progressive program in YSU. Therefore, International Office of Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya visited YSU to learn BIPA program of YSU, Wednesday (27/5/2015).
The representatives of the International Office of ITS were led by its Director, Dr. Maria Anityasari. They were welcomed by the Director of Office of International Affairs and Partnership (OIAP) of YSU, Dr.-Ing. Satoto E. Nayono, M.Eng., M.Sc. in East Meeting Room III B.“It is difficult for ITS to create a teaching system of BIPA. We come here to learn for YSU as it has proved its quality in creating BIPA program and conducting the teaching and learning process,” said Dr. Maria Anityasari.
Dr.-Ing. Satoto E. Nayono, M.Eng., M.Sc. responded by sharing BIPA program in YSU. He started by presenting several reasons why BIPA of YSU is regarded as a leading program in YSU. In addition, he shared several steps of BIPA as the strategic internationalization of YSU. They were Bridging Course, Short Course, Annual Short, Credit Transfer, and other cooperation.
Lusi Nuryati, M.App.Ling., then, shared various technical matters of BIPA teaching system in YSU. “In the beginning, we hold a placement test for the foreign students to know their basic of Indonesian language,” she said. She also informed about the effective weeks of the learning, lecturing and tutorial classes, and cultural program of BIPA in this education university.
The representatives of ITS admitted the visit enlightened them. “We got a lot of ideas we’ve never thought before. Thank you for this constructing discussion,” she said.
Later on, BIPA of YSU will create a BIPA standard curriculuum. “We hope that this curriculum can be a BIPA curriculum pioneer which can be adopted by other BIPA programs in other higher institutions in Indonesia,” he said to close the visit. (Yuhda)
