Monday (April 28th 2014) Prof. Gerard Mauco, the Vice President for Inter-Regional University Network of Universite de Poitiers, together with the Rector and Vice Rector for Cooperation and Partnership Affairs of Yogyakarta State University, Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., M.A. and Prof. Suwarsih Madya, Ph.D. signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the cooperation between both universities.

The MoU signing was then followed by a discussion on possible programs to conduct. Universite de Poitiers, which was established in 1431, offered five key areas for training programmes. Those areas include law, economics, business and management, arts, literature and languages, human and social sciences, sport sciences, as well as sciences, technology and health.

In the discussion, Prof. Gerard Mauco and YSU leaders discussed the possibilities of continuing education for YSU staff who meet the French proficiency standard and choosing the subject to focus. Lectures of French Education Department are also welcomed to apply for a doctoral degree at Universite de Poitiers and encouraged to apply for scholarships as financial supports for tuition fees and living costs.

At the end of the discussion, Prof. Gerard Mauco emphasized that Universite de Poitiers would take the language requirement as a priority to conduct possible academic collaboration programs with YSU. (oiap)
