Selection  for Teaching Practice Enrichment Program at Sekolah Indonesia Singapura Participants

The second Teaching Practice Enrichment Program at Sekolah Indonesia Singapura (Indonesian School at Singapore) has received a positive response from YSU students who wish to be broanden broaden their knowledge and enhance their teaching skills by having teaching practice abroad. The selection process was conducted from February 3rd to 6th 2015.
The board of interviewers consisted of expert staff for the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, the Head of Teaching Practice and Internship Center, the Deputy Director for International Partnerships of YSU Office of International Affairs and Partnerships, and another faculty member.
Retna Hidayah, Ph.D., the chief of the board of interviewers said that the number of applicants enrolling for this program has increased compared to the previous selection period in 2014.
“Three priorities in this selection are high adaptibility, good communication skills, and teaching skills. They will be teaching in multilevel and multisubject setting so that we have set the standard as high as possible,”she added.
She admitted that the competition was tough. The selected candidates who went to the interview are academically excellent and they have sufficient teaching experience. The four nominees are from four different study programs. These study programs are chosen based on the negotiation with the Education Attache of the Indonesian Embasssy in Singapore.
As the ambassadors of YSU to the Singaporean community, they will introduce Indonesian culture through classroom activities and cultural programs.They will also be involved in providing training for Indonesian migrant workers in Singapore.
The teaching practice will be held for 3 months from Februari 15th to May 16th 2015. Starting this week, the students will join a training to prepare them for the teaching practice that is teaching preparation session, Indonesian language course, cross cultural understanding session, socializing ethical behaviour session, and cultural and arts program.
