TWO YSU STUDENTS WON THE TEMANGGUNG CARNIVAL BATIK DESIGN COMPETITION 2014

Kusminarko Warno, the student of the Graduate School was announced as the first winner and  Nur Amin, the student of Electronics Technology Education was announced as the second prize winner of Temanggung Carnival Batik Design Competition 2014 (24/11–19/12/2014) held by Temanggung Regional Government, Central Java. The judges were selected from groups of cultural activists in Temanggung. The participants should insert the typical characteristics of Temanggung in their designs.

Kusminarko Warno created his carnival costume design entitled “Permata Temanggung (the Temanggung Jewel)” which inserted various Temanggung elements such as tobacco, Jaran Kepang (a flat horse made from woven bamboo), clove, Cemani, coffee and Pringapus. “They are depicted in the wings, crown and stick of the costume design,” he explained.

The costume has two different sides, i.e. the front and back sides. Addition, the model will be wearing  accessories, fancy make-up and body painting,” he added.

Meanwhile, Nur Amin created his carnival costume design entitled “The Given of Temanggung”. In designing the costume, he was inspired by shapes of cloves, Pringapus Temple and Cemani. (Ratri)
