Machine Learning is the branch discipline of Artificial Intelligence (AI) many of us are still foreign with this term. Then, what exactly is machine learning and how does it apply? To understand more about machine learning, the Master Program of Electrical Engineering Education study program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yoyakarta  (UNY) held a webinar with the theme "Machine Learning and Its Applications in Electrical Engineering'' on Friday (09/04/2021) at 09.00 WIB through the Zoom Meeting application and Youtube streaming. In this webinar, Prof. Ir. Moh. Khairudin, M.T., Ph.D. presented the material of Machine learning and a glimpse information regarding the Electrical Engineering Education Master's study program delivered by Dr. Sukir, M.T.

In the first session, Prof. Ir. Moh. Khairudin, M.T., Ph.D. provides an explanation of Machine Learning, which is a branch of a discipline that studies how to make computers learn without having to explicitly program it. "The creation of Machine Learning basically inspired from the steps of learning in the human brain where the human learning steps in the early process of the human brain run a system of receiving data or information which is then processed into knowledge," said Prof. Khairudin.

He continued to explain that the knowledge data is then reprocessed to make the computer  understand about the knowledge it previously received and the result of the understanding can be summed up into something that we called intelligence

"The human learning steps are then adopted into machine learning understanding performance," said Prof. Khairudin.

Machine Learning is a part of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI is currently very much needed in terms of work. In fact, nowadays AI is in so much demand dealing with very large, varied, sometimes even random data. In this case, Machine Learning or AI plays an important role in tidying up the data and processing it more accurately. Another example of the use of AI is also applied to robotics and Intelligent Machines.

As time goes by and technology is developing non-stop, the roles of smart machines in today's era are in great demand. The industrial revolution 4.0 and society 5.0 require the creation of intelligent machines that can help and simplify human performance. Therefore, the study about Machine Learning can be learned and explored in the Electrical Engineering Education Master Program, Faculty of Engineering, UNY.

The Masters (S2) study program in Electrical Engineering Education currently has "B" accreditation based on the Decree of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education Number 1757 / SK / BAN-PT / Akred / M / VIII / 2016. "The PT Elektro Master Program is designed with the mastery in producing professional educators (lecturers and teachers), researchers, and developers in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in the field of electricity engineering and industrial automation which oriented towards the demands of workforce competence. " Said Dr. Sukir, M.T., as the Head of the Study Program (Alif_HumasFTUNY; translated by Sausan)
