“To continue our joint-programs since 2012, we would discuss other potential collaborative work to realize,” revealed by Prof. Dr. Abdul Samad Ismail, the Dean of Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). This is part of speech delivered on Visitation and Discussion between UTM and YSU, housed in RKU meeting room, YSU on Monday (14/9/2015).

The Rector of YSU, Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., M.A. also attended and opened the agenda. He first proudly mentioned some achievements of YSU students, particularly in automotive engineering. “Recently I just supervised students to compete in Student Formula SAE Competition of Japan, and alhamdulillah, we were ranked 28th out of 93 participants,” he revealed it enthusiastically.

The visitation and discussion with UTM focused more on further programs to organize in collaboration between YSU and UTM. Some recent collaborative works between both universities are Sit-in class and Field Experience. Several collaborative works proposed are thematic summer program, student community service, joint-research, joint-publication, joint-conference, lecturer exchange, and workshop.

UTM strongly intends to hold summer program and transfer credit for UTM students to study in YSU. Meanwhile, YSU wishes to collaborate in terms of joint-research, joint-publication, and joint-conference to hold at quickly. “We often face several constraints regarding accreditation stuff due to lack of joint-research with foreign universities. Thus, we hope, in cooperation with UTM, we could realize it soon,” Dr. Mochamad Bruri Triyono, M.Pd, the Dean of Faculty of Engineering YSU reassured.

Of some proposed programs, one possible program to hold this year is sending UTM students, particularly from Faculty of Civil Engineering, to study in YSU for a month. It is expected the program will be held on November. (Wulan)
