UNY STUDENTS HAVE TO BE ABLE TO SPEAK ENGLISH

UNY new students from independent Selection Scheme invited to English tutorial at UNY Auditorium, Tuesday (6/8). This activity was attended by 1,255 students from the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Sports Science and the Faculty of Economics.

According to Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of UNY Margana, students must be able to speak in English. "To be able to graduate from UNY, you must have a minimum TOEFL score of 425," Margana said. This program is set to facilitate the need to improve UNY students’ skill on English. In this era, students must master 4C, namely communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving and creativity and innovation. In communicating, students must master several languages including English. Communication plays an important role for student success. Therefore new students are required to take part in this activity.

The tutorial presenters were Yuyun Yulia, Vice Rector IV of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University Yogyakarta and from the LPMPP Language Development Center UNY. One of the participant,  Tasya from the Faculty of Economics office administration education study program, said that this activity was very beneficial for new students to get a hint about their English proficiency. She is trying to improve her ability to be able to speak in English. (Dedy)
