Western and Indonesian Make-Up Exhibition at the Faculty of Engineering

The department of make-up and beauty theraphy held a bridal make-up exhibition joined by the third and fifth semester students of the department in the main hall of the Faculty of Engineering on Tuesday, December 23rd 2014. The middle part of the hall was transformed into a catwalk. The bridal make-up exhibition was a final project for Western Bridal Make-Up and Indonesian Bridal Make-Up courses.
Yuswati, M.Pd., the head of the department said that the exhibition was also aimed at giving students the opportunity to exhibit their works to the public. “We can see here the touch of creativity for western and Indonesian bridal make-up.”
“Their confidence to exhibit their work will eventually gives them chance to get the feedback from the audience and make-up practitioners. The feedback will be useful later when they are in the real working environment,” she added.
‘Cultural Heritage from East to West’ was the theme of the exhibition. 37 students of the third semester exhibited western bridal make-up and 23 students of the fifth semester showed their skills in Indonesian bridal make-up which varies across the archipelago. “In Indonesia, each province has its own style and the students are required to perform their skills in responding to the cultural transformation and complexity of the make-up characteristics of each province,” said Asi Trianti, M.Pd., a make-up lecturer at the department said.
