WORKSHOP ON ECO-FRIENDLY DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT FOR STUDENTS OF CIVIL ENGINEERING AND PLANNING AT UNY

Environmental issues has become common concern, especially on infrastructure development. This concern set on the reality that infrastructure development more or less will give direct influence both in positive or negative way. To minimize any negative impact, there has been heed on environmental aspects in order to maintain environment sustainability and reducing the impact of potential disaster.

Department of Civil Engineering and Planning, Faculty  of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Department of Landscape Architecture, Environment and Surveying Faculty of Built, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the Department of Forestry Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) held a workshop on  Urban Ecology Discovery (19-20 / 01/2019). Dr. Suziana binti Hassan (UPM) and Dr. Sapura binti Mohammad (UTM) were invited as trainer for the workshop.

Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs, Faculty of Engineering, UNY, Moh. Khairudin, Ph.D. in his remarks emphasizing the importance of eco-friendly development. “This concept is a conscious effort and plans to use resources wisely in planned and sustainable development to improve the quality of life,” said Moh. Khairudin, Ph.D.- Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs- in his welcoming remarks.

“For Civil Engineering students, it is important (to understand the importance of environment conservation) when they design and implementing infrastructure development projects on any scale,”   said Dr. Sativa, the workshop coordinator.(hryo)
