YSU Expands Its Cooperation with American Universities

Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., M.A., YSU Rector, signed 6 MoUs which mark the start of cooperation between YSU and six American universities. The cooperation is mainly focused on the field of education. The partnering university which has signed the MoU is University of Nebraska at Lincoln  (UNL) (6/2/2014), whereas discussions on cooperation were conducted with the University of California at Los Angeles  (UCLA), University of Iowa (UI) (6/3-4/2014),University of Minnesota (6/5-6/2014) (UM), Michigan State University (MSU) (6/9/2014), and the Ohio State University (OSU) (6/10-11/2014).

Through the cooperation, it is possible for YSU lecturers to pursue their master and doctoral degrees in those universities. Other programs under collaboration will be visiting scholars, joint research, and journal review based on the approved fields of cooperation.

The cooperation between YSU and UNL is focused on natural sciences education, textile, fashion and design, as well as arts and music. Other collaborative programs are also planned between YSU and UM in the fields of educational leadership, qualitative evaluation, teacher education, higher education management, English Language Teaching, as well as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.

YSU and MSU are both interested in developing cooperation in teacher education, English Language Teaching, Literature, K-12 teaching and learning, and curriculum development.

For cooperation with OSU, the fields of cooperation include vocational education and English Language Teaching as well as academic writing programs for YSU faculty members.(oiap)
