YSU Robot Teams Dominate the 2015 Indonesian Robot Contest of Regional III

YSU Robot teams dominated the number of categories won at the 2015 Indonesian Robot Contest of Regional III (Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java) held by the Indonesian Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI) in Semarang University (14-16/5/2015).

In this annual event participated by 61 teams from 21 universities, YSU delegated 5 teams to compete in 5 divisions, namely Indonesian ABU Robot Contest (KRAI), Indonesian Arts Robot Contest (KRSI), Indonesian Wheeled Fire Fighting Robot Contest (KRPAI), Indonesian Walked Fire Fighting Robot Contest (KRPAI) and Indonesian Football Robot Contest (KRSBI).

YSU teams consisted of 37 students under the supervision of Herlambang Sigit Pramono, M.Cs, Sigit Yatmono, M.T, and Ilmawan Mustaqim, M.T.

YSU secured 5 positions in this event, namely the first position in KRAI division through Maestro-Evo robot, the first position in KRSI division through Rosmary robot, the first position and the best algorithm in wheeled KRPAI through Mobo-Evo robot and the fourth position of KRSBI through Al-Aadiyaat robot.

The YSU teams were challenged by the high temperature of the place and it forced them to recalibrate servo components of the robots. “The temperature is the challenge for us. It affects our robot’s components. Also, the noise of the supporters made it difficult for us to communicate with others,” said Arif, the robot team leader.

These achievements made it possible for YSU to send its teams to compete in the national robot contest in Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta 11-14 June 2015. Arif said that YSU robots have a big chance in the National Robot Competition, especially with the further research and development.
