YSU SECURES 1ST POSITION IN A NATIONAL SCIENTIFIC WRITING COMPETITION

Student Creativity Unit “Reality” of Faculty of Education, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) recently held National Scientific Writing Competition 2016 with the theme of “The Role of Indonesian Young Generation in Maintaining A Nation’s Integration”. The aim was to enhance students’ creativity to actively participate in keeping the nation’s integration through scientific writing.

The event was carried out in two different venues, namely Museum Batik Hotel and Abdullah Sigit Room, YSU (27-29/5). Joining the competition were for instance Brawijaya University (2 teams), Sunan Kalijaga Islamic State University (1 team), Indonesian University of Education (1 team), Bogor Agriculture Institute (1 team), University of Sumatra Utara (1 team), and Yogyakarta State University (2 teams).

With the hard work, cooperation, and support from related parties, YSU delegates secured the 1st position in the competition with their work of “Leather Puppet For Children With Deaf: Alternative Adaptive Learning Media for the Deaf in the Attempt to Introduce Android-based Leather Puppet”. The 2nd position was secured by Bogor Agriculture Institute, while Riau University took the 3rd place.

YSU team consisted of 3 students namely Trisna Yulianto (Special Education, 2014), Sayidatul Maslahah (Special Education, 2014), Muh Hadi Abdul Aziz (Informatics Engineering Education, 2013), and 1 supervisor Atien Nur Chamidah, M. Dist, St., a lecturer from Special Education department, Yogyakarta State University.

On the last day, all participants were invited to do field trip to visit several points of interest in Yogyakarta, including the Palace, Benteng Verdeburg Museum, and Malioboro. (ant)
