YSU SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS TOOK PART IN A FAIR FOR RAISING COMMUNITY AWARENESS FOR THE DISABLED

Special Education is one among excellent programs in Yogyakarta State University (YSU). In order to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) proclaimed by United Nations General Assembly through its resolution number 47/3 1992, the Student Association of Special Education Study Program held Diffabel Fair 2014 with the theme “Satu Nusaku, Satu Bangsaku, Indonesia Tanpa Diskriminasi (One Archipelago, One Nation, Indonesia Without Discrimination)” on Saturday, December 20th, 2014 at Taman Budaya (Yogyakarta Cultural Development Center). It aimed at promoting better understanding of disability issues, minimizing any discrimination for the disabled, as well as raising community awareness of the disabled.
 
Prior to Diffable fair 2014, there was a series of events consisting of Special Education Seminar on December 6th, 2014 at the Faculty of Education, bird-release on December 10th, 2014 at YSU Rectorate fountain area, and longmarch on December 13th, 2014 on Malioboro street as a campaign to realize an inclusive society for all.
 
Besides drum band, painting, and colouring competitions for Special Schools students in Yogyakarta, the closing event was started with a  baloon-releasing session. In this  very occasion, dances, bands, and singing performances were performed by Special Education students of YSU. The closing performances included musical performances by DIFFCOM, Intuisi Band, and Fantasy Band. (mkf/ant)
