YSU Students Present Their Paper in the 2015 International Conference on Trends in Economics, Humanities and Management, Singapore

The changes occuring in the Indonesian curriculum has raised pros and cons among educational experts and practitioners. Forums have been the media to spread and share ideas about the implementation of the Indonesian 2013 curriculum. This inspired two students of the Faculty of Languages and Arts to write a paper entitled “Transformation in Indonesian Language Curriculum: Pros and Cons between KTSP 2006 and Curriculum 2013 in Indonesia.” They are Rony K. Pratama (Department of Indonesian Language and Literature Education) and Zidnie Ilma (Department of English Language and Literature). Their paper was presented in 2015 International Conference on Trends in Economics, Humanities and Management. The conference was held in Bayview Hotel, Singapore on March 27th-28th and joined by participants from Asia, Europe, and America.
“In the context of curriculum, there are people who defend the 2006 Curriculum as a better curriculum, but another group of people wanted quality improvement so that they support the 2013 curriculum,” said Rony.
In their research, Rony and Zidnie studied the characteristics of the 2006 curriculum and 2013 curriculum. “ The learning of the Indonesian literature in the 2006 Curriculum is more explicit than the one in the 2013 curriculum,” Zidnie added.
Rony further explained that the 2013 curriculum provided students with more text genres to learn and the teaching and learning method is thematic and integrated though the thematic and integrated learning has been introduced in the 2006 curriculum.
