YSU Students Won Medals in the Asean University Games 2014

Asean University Games organized by the AUSC (Asean University Sport Council) is held once every two years. 20 sports were in this year competition, which was joined by 11 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asia Nation (ASEAN). This year’s competition was conducted in Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang, South Sumatra from Desember 10th to 21st 2014. The Indonesian contingent have sucessfully topped the medal results with 66 gold medals, 78 silver medals, and 46 bronze medals. At the second and third places were Thailand (53 golds-34 silvers-27 bronzes) and Malaysia (40 golds-42 silvers-49 bronzes).
Here, YSU students gained 3 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and one bronze medal. Alin Sukma Pranata (Faculty of Economics) won a gold for Karate Kumite 75kg. The next two golds were won by Firdhana Wahyu Putra and Titik Kusumawardani (Faculty of Sport Sciences) for 80-85 kg Pencak Silat and archery.
Nur Shodiq (Faculty of Sport Sciences) won two silvers in athletics for male 10,000 metres and 5,000 metres.
Galang Tri Widya Putra, and Ika Septi (Faculty of Sport Sciences), won one silver for Pencak Silat and one silver for archery. Titik Kusumawardani, again, added the medal results with a silver and a bronze.
