On Friday 8 January 2016, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) extended warm welcome to the visitation from Benesse Indonesia. Hosted by the Office of International Affairs and Partnerships (OIAP) YSU, that day agenda also invited Drs. M.A.,Ed.D. Wardan Suyanto as Vice Rector I YSU, Dr. Taat Wulandari, M.Pd as Vice Dean I of Faculty of Social Sciences YSU, and Dr. Ing. Satoto, E. Nayono, M.Eng., M.Sc. as the Director of OIAP. The aim is to discuss the Lesson Study conducted in collaboration between YSU and Benesse Indonesia .

Rio Suzuki, deputation of Benesse Indonesia, suggested that Lesson Study done in Yogyakarta is not yet as optimum as what has been done in Indonesian University of Education Bandung and Muhammadiyah University Malang. In relation to that case, he offered partnership with YSU for betterment of Lesson Study in schools in Yogyakarta.

In responding to the offer, Drs. M.A.,Ed.D. Wardan Suyanto revealed that YSU is committed to develop education with varying methods; one of them is Lesson Study. He also stated that Lesson Study is one strategy for education improvement. In principle, YSU supports the partnership offer for accelerating education enhancement, including through Lesson Study.
