LOGIKA (Mathematics Activities and Competition) 2015 “Interesting Mathematics” was a national event held by Mathematics Department of University of Indonesia (UI) consisting of a wide range of activities, namely Math Individual Competition, Math Team Competition, Math Kid Idol, Math Camp, Mathematics Seminar, and Mathematics Conference. In the event, YSU sent two teams to attend Mathematics Conference “The Brilliant Idea Inside Mathematics” held on 29 January 2015 in the Family of Health Science of University of Indonesia. It invited numerous presenters of Mathematics in Economic, Science, and Technology from various universities in Indonesia.
Chandra Nugroho Erlangga, Triyanti, and Nur Fitriana (Mathematics Study Program 2012) secured third position in this conference by presenting their paper entitled “Pemodelan Matematika Automatic Parking Assist (Automatic Parking Assist Mathematics Model)” for subtheme Mathematics in Technology. It is a technology which fuses sensor and data processing to facilitate drivers to determine proper steps to park. Their paper focuses on automatic parking system which is implemented in four-wheel-drive using regression equation.
In Subtheme Mathematics and Education, Nur Dwi Laili Kurniawati, Yazid Fathoni, and Mutiara Khalida (Mathematics Education 2013) were awarded prizes for the most favorite presentation and poster entitled “Selotrig: Snake and Ladder of Trig”. It uses snake and ladder to help students learning trigonometry due to students’ perception that learning mathematics is difficult.
The conference was followed by a National Mathematic Seminar entitled “This is the Real War: AEC 2015” inviting Satrio Wiseno (President of Grup Riset Potensial Perguruan Tinggi (Higher Education Potential Research Group)) and Tri Djoko Santoso (the Chairman of Financial Planning Standard Board Indonesia).
