Currently YSU has developed partnerships with the following international partners that will provide mutually beneficial opportunities, including:

 

Malaysia 

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

Yogyakarta State University firstly signed the Letter of Intent with Kebangsaan Malaysia University on 23 November 2010. The MoU was officially declared on 18 July 2011 and valid until 18 July 2016.
 
Both universities have cooperations on:
- Education and Research,
- Academic Publication and Society Development,
- Sending students for Master and Doctoral Program,
- Lecturer exchange between Institute Alam dan Tamadun Melayu (UKB) and Faculty of Languages and Arts (YSU).
 
The activities:
  • On 20th February 2013, Faculty of Economics had workshop on international journal publication. Fourty YSU lecturers participated in the workshop. The speakers of the workshop were Rika Fatimah, Ph.D   from UKM and  Losina Purnastuti, Ph.D., from YSU.
  • On 10 March 2016, Education Policy Study Program, Department of Philosophy Sociology Education held a Stadium Generale ‘Policy of Nation and Character Building: Comparing Indonesia-Malaysia’ in Abdullah Sigit hall, Faculty of Education with Prof Madya dato Dr. Abdul Razaq Ahmad from Kebangsaan Malaysia University as speaker. This event was attended by 159 participants.
 

 

Universiti Malaya

Yogyakarta State University and University of Malaya began the cooperation on 11th January 2010 and pioneered work on Sport Centre Faculty of Sport Science YSU. The first MoU was officially signed on 5th February  2010 and it was valid until  5th February  2015 but then renewed. The latest MoU is valid from 4th November 2015 to 4th November 2020.
 
Both universities have cooperation on:
- Exchange of scholar and teaching staff,
- Exchange of students,
- Facilitation of in-country work experience for students,
- Joint research and publication,
- Joint seminar, symposium, workshop and conference.
 
The activities:
  • On 17th to 21st November 2014 YSU administrative staff joined an exchange program at University of Malaya.

  • Sport Education Study Program and International Office of YSU held Guest Lecturing by Dr. Lim Boon Hooi from University of Malaya on 4th November  2013.On 7th June  2013, Department of Geography Education Faculty of Social Science YSU visited Faculty Arts and Social Science, University of Malaya. This activity was to discuss further plans of cooperations on exchange lecturers, sit in students, research collaboration and international journals publishing.

  • On 16th November 2013, Faculty of Matemathics and Natural Sciences held a National Seminar on Chemistry by inviting Prof. Datin. Dr. Sri Nurestri Binti Hj. Abd Malek from Institute of Biological Science, Faculty of Science, UM as the speaker. This seminar discussed anti-cancer agent from herbal.

 

Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris

Yogyakarta State University and Sultan Idris Education University signed the MoU on 13th April 2007 and it is valid until 14th January 2018.

Both universities have cooperations on:

-Exchange of scholars and teaching staff,

-Exchange of students,

-Facilitation of in-country work experience for students,

-Joint Doctoral & Master degree program,

-Joint research,

-Joint workshop & seminar,

- Exchange of academic material, scientific publication.

The activities:

  • 24 delegations from YSU visited Sultan Idris Education University’s library on 2nd October 2013
  • Department of Chemistry Education YSU pioneered a twin department  program with Sultan Idris Education University in early 2013. This cooperation gave the chances on reasearch collaboration, sit in program and also 4 YSU graduates were accepted in postgraduate school, Sultan Idris Education University.

 

Universiti Putra Malaysia

Yogyakarta State University and Putra Malaysia University signed the MoU on 19th May 2010 and it was valid until May 19th 2015.

Both universities have cooperations on:

-Exchange of scholar and teaching staff

-Exchange of students

-Facilitation of in- country work experience for students

-Joint research and publication

-Joint seminar, symposium, workshop and conference

The activities:

From 1st to 7th April 2013, 30 students from YSU Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences participated in sit-in program in UPM. The students were assisted by 4 lecturers. The other activities that the students had were class learning, faculty and facility visit in UPM, a visit to the Malysia Nuclear Agency and a cultural exchange night

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Yogyakarta State University began the cooperation with University of Technology Malaysia in 2009. The MoU was valid until 2014 and then renewed. The latest MoU is valid from July 20th 2011 until July 20th 2016.

Both universities have cooperations on:

-Exchange of scholars and teaching staff,

-Exchange of students,

-Facilitation of in-country work experience for students,

-Joint research & publication,

-Joint seminar, symposium, workshop & conference.

The activities:

  • On 27th February 2015, 11 students of UTM had in-country work experience in SMAN 3, SMAN 8, and SMKN 2 Depok, Yogyakarta,
  • On 1st to 30th July 2013, YSU sent 10 students to join in Teaching Practicum and Internship in SMK Senai, SMK Bandar Putra, SMK Kulai Besar, and SM Teknik Johor Bahru.
  • On 14th September  2015, Prof. Dr. Abdul Samad Ismail, the Dean of Computer Faculty, University of Technology Malaysia attended the discussion in Yogyakarta State University.

Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia

Yogyakarta State University and Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia University (THMU) have coorporations since 26th April 2008. The latest MoU is valid from 5th October 2013 to 5th October 2018.

Both universities have coorporations on:

- Exchange of teaching and research personnel

- Exchange of administrative staff and other personel

-  Exchange of students

 -  Collaboration and research project

The activities:

  • On 24th September 2013, UTHM delegates visited YSU to renew the cooperation agreement. The visit also opened further chances for :
  • in-country work experience for students
  • 2 weeks joint lecture
  • international journal article exchange
  • research collaboration,
  • Joint degree for master and doctoral programs
  • UTHM also offered YSU faculty members to have doctoral degree program for 2 semesters in UTHM. They were also interested in having collaboration in math, statistics and science with Faculty of Mathematics and Science YSU.

Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur

On 28th January 2015, Yogyakarta State University and Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) signed an MoU that is valid until 28th January 2018.

Both universities have coorporations on:

- Academic Courses and Curriculum,

-Exchange of Faculty Members,

-Exchange of Students,

-Joint Academic Courses, Research and Specific Research Projects,

-Joint Conferences, Cultural Exchange Programmes and Consultancy Services.

The activities :

The coorporation between YSU and IUKL is a further result on the collaboration of both universities through sit-in activity of 15 IUKL students in Department of Management, Accounting Education, Economics Education, Office Administration Education YSU on March 2014 and also 15 YSU students in IUKL in 26th to 27th November 2014. 

Universiti Malaysia Sarawak

Yogyakarta State University and Malaysia Sarawak University signed an MoU on 28th January 2015 and it is valid until 2020. The first meeting was Malaysia Sarawak University’s visit to YSU on 27th November 2014. Delegations from MSU were Dr. Wan Azlan Bin Wan Zainal Abidin, Deputy Dean of Centre for Graduate Studies, and Ida Juliana Hutasuhut, lecturer from Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development. From YSU side, Dr.-Ing. Satoto Endar Nayono, M.Eng., M.Sc., as Director of YSU International Affairs and Partnerships welcomed the delegations in East Senate Meeting Room, YSU Rectorate Building.

Thailand

Chiang Mai University

Yogyakarta State University and Chiang Mai University signed an MoU on 30th October 2012 and it is valid until 30th October  2017.

Both universities have coorporations on:

-       Exchange of scholars,

-       Exchange of students,

-       Exchange of materials in education and research, publication and academic information,

-       Joint research and meeting for education and research.

The activities:

  • On 6th September 2013, 5 CMU lecturers  visited YSU Faculty of Education to discuss the UCM on-going research and potential future research plan.
  • On 28th August to 6th September 2013, delegations from Chiang Mai University visited YSU on “ASEAN Community Familiarization” program. The program included 30 students and 4 staff members of CMU. The students learnt Indonesian language, played gamelan and angklung, and also tried pencak silat martial art. They also stayed in local homestay in Gunungkidul.

Kasetsart University

Yogyakarta State University and Kasetsart University signed an MoU on 17th December 2012 and it is valid until 17th December  2017.

-Exchange of faculty member and research scholars,
-Exchange of students,
-Joint  research & meeting,
-Exchange of materials in education and research, publication & academic information.
 

Naresuan University

Yogyakarta State University and Naresuan University signed an MoU on 11th April  2012 and it is valid until 11th April 2017. 

Both universities have coorporation on:

-  Cooperation in the Field of Education

The latest activities:

  • On 19th to 28th August 2013, 11 YSU students from Languages and Arts Faculty, supervised by Dr. Miril Herman, visited Faculty of Humanities Naresuan University  for “Language and Cultural Diversity” program. In this program, YSU students taught Indonesian language and Bali dances. 
  • On 7th March 2013, 1 lecturer and 11 Ph.D candidates from Naresuan University visited Administration Education Study Program, Faculty of Education YSU. This visit was part of  Naresuan University-YSU coorporations.
  • Once a year, YSU and Naresuan University sent students to have a master degree schoolarship, 9 YSU students and 9 Naresuan University students for 3 weeks. Both universities also have lecturer exchange.
  • From 14th to 28th September 2014, YSU delegates joined a student exchange program at Naresuan University, Thailand.

Yala Rajabhat University

Yogyakarta State University and Yala Rajabhat University signed an MoU on 27th May 2015 and it is valid until 27th May  2020.
 
Both universities have coorporations on:
 
-Exchange of faculty and administrative staff,
-Exchange of students,
-Exchange of research materials, publications, and other academic information,
-Facilitation of in-country world experience for students in relevant fields of studies,
-Joint research projects,
-Any other academic activities beneficial for both universities.
 

 

Brunei Darussalam

The Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Education SEAMEO-VOCTECH

YSU and The Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Education SEAMEO-VOCTECH conduct exchange of scholar and teaching staff, exchange of students, establishment of joint degree program, joint research, joint workshop and seminar, and exchange of academic information and publication. YSU and The Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Education SEAMEO-VOCTECH held workshop on ICT implementation of international standardized learning from 26th to 27th January 2012. The workshop attracted 100 participants from some state and private universities.  The workshop was also broadcasted through live streaming to 35 universities in Indonesia.

 

Vietnam

The Philippines

University of Southeastern Philippines

YSU and University of Southern Philippines have been collaborating in exchange of research experience, exchange of experiece and information on curriculum and teaching methodology, joint research and publication, and joint seminar, symposium, workshop, and conference. 

Central Luzon State University

YSU and Central Luzon State University have been collaborating in exchange of scholars and teaching staff, exchange of students, facilitation of in-country work experience for students, joint research and publication, and joint seminar, symposium, workshop and conference.

YSU and De La Salle University have been collaborating to carry out student exchange, staff exchange, information exchange, joint research, and cultural exchange through cultural tourism. The MoU is valid until 5th May 2019.

 

People's Republic of China

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

YSU and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies have been collaborating in carrying out scholars and teaching staff exchange, student exchange, facilitation of in-country work experience for students, joint research and publication, joint seminar, symposium, workshop, and conference. The Mou is valid from 11th November 2011 to 11th November 2016.

Activities

  • On 7th April 2013, 8 GDUFS students who had credit transfer at YSU joined training to be tour guides to practice their skills in Bahasa Indonesia  in Sukuh Temple, Cetho Temple, and Grojogan Sewu Waterfall.

Yunnan University of Nationalities

YSU and Yunnan University of Nasionalities (YUN) have been working on faculty and administrative staff exchange, student exchange, research material, publication, report and academic info exchange, joint research project, and provision of technical assistance in language and culture course development. In 2014, 20 students from Yunnan University of Nationalities joined transfer credit program in YSU.

The MoU between YSU and Yunnan University of Nationalities is valid until 3rd  April 2018.

Beijing Foreign Studies Universities

YSU and Beijing Foreign Studies Universities have been collaborating to carry out student exchange; faculty, scholars and administrative staff exchange; research collaboration in the fields of mutual interests, and; sharing of academic materials and information exchange. The MoU is valid from 27th May 2015 to 27th  May 2020.

 

Japan

Aichi University of Education

YSU and Aichi University of Education (AUE) have been collaborating to carry out student exchange; professor, administrative staff and scholars exchange;  scientific material, publication and information exchange, and; research collaboration, cultural and other educational activities. In 2011, AUE sent 11 students to attend study sit-in in YSU in order to understand Indonesian language and culture. In the same year, YSU sent 6 students to AUE to learn Japanese language and culture. Starting from October 2014 to September 2015,YSU had sent students to AEU for the student exchange. Regarding the research collaboration, academic staff of faculty of Education visited AUE to discuss further research collaboration which theme was preparation for elemantary teachers in Indonesia and Japan. Furthermore, the MoU is valid from 17th March 2014 to 17th  March 2019. 

Yamaguchi University

YSU and Yamaguchi University (YU) have been collaborating to carry out student exchange; to establish friendship and cooperation; to promote mutual understanding, academic and research collaboration, cultural & staff exchange, and; to work toward more formal, complex and binding agreement. On 20th October - 4th November 2014, YSU and YU had a collaboration program in product design. This program involved several graduate and undergraduate students of Yamaguchi University and several undergraduate students from YSU. The MoU started from 17 December 2012.

 

Korea

Pukyong National University

The MoU between YSU and Pukyong National University was valid from 27th  January 2010 to 27th January 2015. In the meantime, they had collaborated on academic staff cooperation on collaborative research, lectures and conferences; exchange of scholar and researcher; exchange of data, documentation, and research material; exchange of student including credit transfer, and; exchange of academic information and publication.

Ajou University

YSU and Ajou University have been collaborating in guest lecturing program, exchange of students, and research collaboration. The MoU is valid from 2nd June 2014 to 2nd June 2019. On 22nd September 2014, YSU hosted a studium generale on Transportation System in Korea. Prof. Choul-Ki Lee from the Department of Transportation Systems Engineering, Ajou University and Seong-Yoen Kim from Korea Transportation System Authority (KOTSA) acted as the keynote speakers.

Sun Moon University

The MoU between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and Sun Moon University (SMU) is valid from 20th January  2015 to 20th January  2020. The MoU covers training programs, exchange of scientific materials, exchange of scholars in the course of academic development and sponsor of cooperative seminars, workshop and other scientific meeting for mutual interest. Also stated on the MoU are the partnership posibilities about International Peace Education curriculum and Korean language program in YSU.

 

New Zealand

The University of Auckland

The MoU between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and University of Auckland (UoA) is valid from 25th February 2015 to 25th February 2020. Before that, YSU and University of Auckland have been collaborating in both academic and culture fields. Some of them are joint research on multicultural education, guest lecturing from UoA lecturers, international seminar about primary education and culture, and art workshop by YSU delegates to UoA. 

 

 

USA

University of North Texas

The MoU between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and University of North Texas is valid from 8th March 2010 to 8th  Maret 2015. Both univiersities have been collaborating in scholar and teaching staff exchange, students exchange, facilitation of in-country work experience for students, joint degree program establishment, joint research, joint workshop and seminar, and academic information and publication exchange.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln

The MoU between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) is valid from 6th  February 2014 to 6th February 2019. The MoU between the two universities covers education, research, students and teaching staff exchange, technology transfer, publication, curriculum development, and joint project and training. Previously, YSU and UNL have discussed the collaboration in early childhood education research, natural science education, hospitality, textile, fashion and design as well as music and art.

 
The MoU between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and University of Iowa (UI) is valid from 23rd October 2014 to 23rd  October 2017. The MoU covers joint educational, training and/or research activities; exchange of invitations to scholars (faculty, research personnel, and graduate students) for lectures; visits and sharing of experiences, exchange of invitation to scholars for participation in conferences, symposia and seminars; exchange of information in fields of interest to both parties, exchange of faculty, research personnel, and graduate and undergraduate students for study and research, and; practical training in pre-identified or otherwise selected filed sites. Besides, YSU and UI agree to collaborate in educational evaluation and measurement, special education, and teacher education
 

 

The Netherlands

Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht

The MoU between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht is valid from 6th August 2012 to 6th August 2017. The MoU covers collaborative research project, joint academic and scientific activities (courses, conferences, seminar, symposia or lecturer), research and teaching personnel exchange, students exchange and publication and other material exchange. In 2010 to 2012, YSU and Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht held research on music education collaboratively. 

 

Germany

Technische Universität  Dresden

The MoU between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and Technische Universität  Dresden (TUD) is valid from 10th January 2012 to 10th January 2017. The MoU between the two universities covers joint or dual degree program establishment (specifically for doctoral degree vocational education program), students exchange (the home university selects the students, and then the host university will make final decision based on the academic requirements), cooperation in education sciences and other disciplines by mutual agreement and opportunity for activity and program (teaching, research, exchange of faculty, student and staff). Other than that, TUD and YSU have been running sandwich-like program to send doctoral degree students to finalize their research at Program Academic Recharging (PAR) and Program Guest Lecturing in TUD for three months.   

 

Australia

Kangan Institute

Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and Kangan Institute have collaborated in conducting a guest lecture and two master class workshops on 4th – 10th April 2013 at YSU  by inviting a fashion course expert from Kangan Institute.

Activities:

  • In 2014, Kangan Institute and YSU Fashion Design and Hospitality Education study program have collaborated in workshop “Design Development of  Batik Fashion for Spring or Summer 2015—2016”. This workshop aimed to develop batik fashion collection for international market.
  • In 2015, the students of YSU Fashion Design and Hospitality Education study program went to Kangan Institute to learn about eco-fashion, screen printing, and knitting technology.
  • In 2016, there was a guest lecture in YSU Fashion Design and Hospitality Education study program from Kangan Institute’s Textile and Fashion Hub Coordinator, Fabia Pryor. The lecture covered fashion sustainability.

 

India

Jawaharlal Nehru University

The MoU between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is valid from 20th January 2014 to 20th January 2017. The MoU covers faculty members, students & administrative managers/coordinators exchange; joint research activities; seminars and academic meeting participation; academic materials and other information exchange, special short-term academic programs, and joint cultural programs. In 2014, there was training on social sciences laboratory management by two lecturers from YSU in JNU. YSU also had the honour to host multinational academic meeting, exploratory seminar between Indian and Indonesian Higher Institutions in October 2014. Also in October—November 2014, YSU and JNU lecturers attended training on social science laboratorium in JNU. 

 
The MoU between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and VIT University is valid from 7th November 2015 to 7th November 2020. The MoU covers collaboration in research and publication; academic, technical, and administrative staff visit or exchange; students program, academic material sharing; conference; technical and academic special program, and; joint course. 
 

France

Universite de Poitiers

The MoU between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and Universite de Poitiers is valid from 6th June 2014 to 6th June 2019. The MoU covers development of collaborative research projects, organization of joint academic and scientific activities, research and teaching personnel exchange, students exchange, publications and other materials of common interest exchange, and any other academic activities beneficial for both universities. The fields included in the collaboration are law, economics, business and management, arts, literature and languages, human and social sciences, sport sciences, as well as sciences, technology and health. Added to that, in 2014, YSU and Université de Poitiers conducted a collaborative reasearch on art education. 

 

Hungary

 

Eszterházy Károly University of Applied Sciences, Eger

 
The LoI signing between Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and Eszterhazy Karoly University of Applied Sciences of Eger was conducted on 27th Maret 2015 to. The LoI of academic collaboration covers academic networking and knowledge transfer, student mobility and exchange, research cooperation, joint publication opportunities, joint supervision opportunites for graduate students, foreign language programs, intercultural trainings, and language coaching for academics and conferences, and other scientific events.
