For the first time, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) elected the Chairperson and Secretary of the Board of Trustees (MWA) since the inauguration of UNY from PTN-BLU to PTN-BH under Government Regulation Number 35 of 2022 concerning Legal Entity Universities of UNY. The election was held in the Main Conference Room of the Rectorate on Tuesday (28/2) by inviting all 17 members of the Board of Trustees based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number 74443/MPK.A/KP.08.06/2022 concerning the Appointment of Members of the Board of Trustees of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta for the period 2022-2027.

Of all the invited members of the Board of Trustees, those present to lead the election meeting were UNY Rector Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., AIFO; accompanied by Prof. Dr. Zamzani, Chairman of the Academic Senate of the University; Prof. TjiTjik Sri Tjahjandarie, Ph.D. representing the Minister of Education and Research; GKR Hayu representing Sri Sultan HB X; Didik Suhardi, Ph.D. representing the community; Prof. Dr. Achmad Dardiri, M.Hum. representative of professor lecturer not a member of SAU; Prof. Suyanto, Ph.D. representative of alumni; Prof. Dr. Suminto A. Sayuti representative of professor lecturer not a member of SAU; Prof. Dr. Endang Rini Sukamti, M.S. representative of professor lecturer not a member of SAU; Prof. Dr. Suranto, M.Pd., M.Si. vice lecturer professor not a member of SAU; Dr. Sudarmaji, M.Pd. vice lecturer not a professor not a member of SAU; Abdullah Taman, S.E., M.Si., Ak. a vice lecturer, not a professor not a member of SAU; Anang Priyanto, S.H., M.Hum. vice lecturer not a professor not a member of SAU; Sukirjo, M.Pd. representative of Education Personnel; and Ryan Maulia Muhammad representative of Students. While those who could not attend were KGPAA Paku Alam X, a representative of the community due to activities that could not be left behind, and Alm. Dr. (H.C.) Darsono, a representative of the community who had passed away on December 30, 2022.

The election was carried out by deliberation under Government Regulation No. 35 of 2022 Article 31 section 3. It states the Chairperson and Secretary are not the members of the Minister, Sultan Hamengku Buwono, Rector, Chairperson of SAU, Representative of Education Personnel, and Representative of Students. Therefore, by acclamation Prof. Suyanto, Ph.D. was elected as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (MWA), and Prof. Dr. Suranto, M.Pd., M.Si. as Secretary of the Board of Trustees after previously proposed by Prof. Dr. Suminto A. Sayuti, Dr. Sudarmaji, M.Pd., and Sukirjo, M.Pd. The Rector of UNY read the official report of the Chairperson and Secretary of the Board of Trustees and was declared valid by all members of the Board of Trustees present, followed by signing the official report of the election by all members of the Board of Trustees present. The election program was completed and continued with the Inaugural Session of the Board of Trustees led directly by the elected Chairperson and Secretary of the Board of Trustees, to later discuss the UNY RKAT in 2023 and the Agenda of the Board of Trustees in the future.
