TechinAsia, one of the largest online technology media start-ups based in Asia, visited Faculty of Engineering, YSU on Thursday (29/9/2015). This is part of a series of Techin Asia Campus Visit.

This event is an attempt to gather and bridge the understanding of the company’s owner and university students. It aims to generate motivation and share new insight to students. Held in KPLT Building 3rd floor, the Campus Visit TechinAsia this time cast in a talkshow by presenting the co-founder of Ngomik.com, Wisnu Manupraba.

Ngomik.com is a digital comic platform in Indonesia. This platform becomes a hub for cartoonists, comic maniacs, and publishers. At the sharing session, Wisnu described the early establishment of his company named PT. Javan, which is now persistenly growing until one of its primary products, Ngomik.com successfully penetrated the market.

He suggested when starting a business, defining ide is one of the prominent things. The business idea should be able to solve problems in the society. When first creating Ngomik.com, Wisnu and his friends discovered that cartoonists’ earning was very small, while the process of publishing comics was not easy. Since then, he obtained an idea of creating a platform that helps cartoonists publish their work, and channels them with readers, and even publishers. By the help of his collegues, he then executed his idea. Recently, more than 3000 artists and loyal readers are registered in Ngomik.com. Even, some comic publishers thank to Ngomik.com for this platform.

In addition to the business idea, Wisnu adviced students wishing to develop their start-up to work with the right people in making a business idea into realization. In addition, the idea does not need to be too sophisticated. Moreover, currently , there is almost no truly original business idea; the most necessary one is the business execution.

Attended by more than a hundred of students and lecturers of Informatics Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, the TechinAsia Campus Visit this year succeed to attract participants with full of enthusiasm. Many students are getting interested in developing their own start up especially in the field of technology. At the end of the agenda, some students also shared and promoted their start-up that is currently in the development stage. (Public Relations, Faculty of Engineering)
