Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) received the "Best Student Sports Coaching College" award from KONI DIY this time. This award was given because UNY contributes the most to the sports field in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The award was given directly by the Deputy Governor of Yogyakarta, KGPAA Paku Alam X to the Rector of UNY, Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Grand Tjokro Yogyakarta Hotel. The award given by KONI DIY to institutions, media, and private parties is one of the agendas of the Regional Work Meeting (Rakerda) KONI DIY which is held once a year.

UNY received the award because it has produced many students who have excelled in the sports field, especially during the National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) in 2022 held in Padang, West Sumatra, where as many as 40 students managed to bring home medals, including gold, silver or bronze from various sports.

Chairman of KONI DIY, Prof. Djoko Pekik Irianto hopes that after UNY succeeds in getting the award, there will be a deeper bond between UNY and KONI DIY to improve sports coaching for students and they can bring more students to be outstanding in various events both nationally and internationally, including welcoming the National Sports Week (PON) which will be held in 2024. Other than UNY, several parties received awards this time as the ones who also contributed to the sports field, namely TVRI, RRI and KRI (media) Jogja City Mall, Sleman City Hall, and PT Taisho (Private). Similar awards were also achieved by BPJS Employment.
