Students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta conducted a community empowerment activity through a demonstration on organic waste management using biopore methods and gallon composters.
The activity took place in Padukuhan Degolan, Bumirejo Village, Lendah District, Kulon Progo Regency. It aimed to educate and encourage local residents to manage household organic waste in a simple, practical, and environmentally friendly way.
Through this demonstration, the students introduced biopore technology, which involves creating small holes in the ground to improve water absorption while also serving as a medium for decomposing organic waste. In addition, they showcased the use of used gallon containers as composters to process household organic waste into useful compost.
This initiative is part of community-based environmental education and empowerment efforts, encouraging residents to adopt sustainable waste management practices in their daily lives.
