UNY Students Creativity Program Team won as favorite winner in National Student Scientific Week (Pimnas) in Bali recently. The team consisting of Muhammad Faqihul Imam and Lilis Riyanti (Physics Study Program), Ardi Jati Nugroho (Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program), Yuda Aldeika (Electrical Engineering Education Study Program) and Hestiana (Natural Science Education Study Program), created a work entitled “Cutter and Cleanser Catfish Machine (Cutle-Machine) to Improve Catfish Fish Processing Efficiency”.

According to Muhammad Faqihul Imam, Cutle-Machine is a cutting and cleaning tool that is applied to facilitate the processing of catfish. By using Cutle-Machine, it is possible to cut catfish 5 times faster than conventional methods. In addition, this machine also reduced the risk for hands injury from knife or catfish pile related with the cutting process. Unlike conventional method using a knife that takes around 10 minutes for cutting 100 catfish, it will take only 2 minutes of processing time using the machine. Other advantage is set on zero risk from catfish pile compare with 13 times chances from potential injury by using conventional method.

This tool has been tested on "Healthy Lala Lele" catfish farms in Klaten Regency with good results. (Dedy; Tj.Lak)
