Taking place in the Main Court Room, Rector’s Building, Yogyakarta State University, Monday (19/9/2016) the international students who currently study at YSU joined the Welcome Ceremony which was organized by the (OIAP) YSU. Some of the students are coming from Thailand, China, India, Vietnam, South Korea, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary and countries from the Africa continent.

In his opening speech, the head of the Office of International Affairs and Partnerships, Dr.-Ing. Satoto E. Nayono, M.Eng. M.Sc., explained the initial achievements of YSU in facilitating the cooperation with the overseas partners. This achievement makes YSU attractive in the eyes of international students, whether to study Indonesian language and culture or to join the academic classes.

The Rector of YSU, Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd. MA., remarked that the international students do not need to worry in asking help from all parties in the campus. The Rector also ensured their safety and asked them to not engage in law-breaking activities, such as drugs.

The international students who are in the Darmasiswa and Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) programs, also performed the angklung orchestra with “Cik Cik Periuk” and “Viva La Vida” as the theme songs. In their performance, the international students who already rehearsed for the last 2 weeks seemed enthusiastic and eloquent in playing angklung.(andre)
