Closing of BIPA Credit Transfer Program at UNY

A total of 35 Chinese students have completed the Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages (BIPA) Credit Transfer Program at the Faculty of Language, Arts and Culture, Universitas Negeri  Yogyakarta. The students came from three universities: Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Xi'an International University and Yunnan Minzu University. The program lasted for one semester, from March to July 2023. Therefore, a closing ceremony was held recently to mark the end of the program.

The closing ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Language, Arts and Culture, Vice Dean of RKSIU, teaching lecturers, accompanying tutors, Chinese credit transfer program students and BIPA Summer Course Program students from Thammasat University, Thailand. The Cine Club of the Faculty of Language, Arts and Culture  UNY activity was lively with Chinese students' angklung and Maumere dance performances.

"Not only learning Indonesian, but the Credit Transfer Program students also gained experience and direct interaction through excursions and cultural arts workshops," explained Dr. Ari Kusmitun, M.Hum., Head of BIPA Lab FBSB UNY, in his report. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Sri Harti Widyastuti, M.Hum., Dean of FBSB UNY, expressed her pride for the student's success in completing the entire program, "We hope you can bring useful things from this program and continue to love Indonesia."

This activity was followed by a student speech delivered by Xu Yuqin or who is familiarly called Yunita. "The lecturers and tutors are instrumental in our adaptation process in Indonesia," she said. This support can also be seen in the video of the moments of togetherness during the later aired program. "I am very touched and grateful," said Alyana, a student from GDUFS who was chosen as the best student during the program. Besides Alyana, a number of students and tutors received special titles as an appreciation for their active participation during the program.
