ICCIE: 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CURRENT ISSUES IN EDUCATION 2015

Faculty of Education and Graduate School of YSU hosted an international seminar entitled ICCIE (International Conference on Current Issues in Education) in the Main Meeting Room of YSU from Tuesday to Wednesday (25-26/08/15). It is the result of cooperation among YSU, UKM (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia) and CMU (Chiang Mai University) with Dr. Dwi Siswoyo, M.Hum from YSU and Prof. Madya Dato Abdul Razaq Ahmad, Ph.D from UKM as the chairpeople.

The seminar was participated by around 200 lecturers and master students from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Turkey. Some of them are also the parallel presenters of this seminar. The first day discussed current education issue by inviting Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ben Wandham, Education Sociology lecturer of Flinders University, and Dr. Mohd. Mahzan Awang, Education Sociology lecturer of UKM.

Ben’s study entitled “Education for a Globalising World: From Australia to Indonesia and Beyond” described that education and science are the keys to face global era, whereas Mahzan revealed a sociological perspective between utilitarianism and humanism matters in Asia through “Quality of Education in Malaysia: A Sociological Perspective.”

The second day invited Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ratchaneekorn Tongsookdee, Special Education lecturer of Chiang Mai University and Dr. Sugito, M.A. from Faculty of Education of YSU. The former speaker revealed “Teacher Preparation for Better Multicultural and Inclusive Classroom” focuses on inclusive education in Thailand by combining learning activity with diversity awareness, whereas the latter speaker presented “The Role of Non Formal Education: Expectation and Challenge” focusing on the role of non formal education in education.
