All countries have the same goal, namely progress and prosperity which is only achieved if the nation always increases the added value that can be achieved by using and mastering technology. Without technology, we cannot provide good added value. Our basic technology is education because education will be the base to build our future. As stated by Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla as the keynote speaker in the national seminar of the UNY Alumni Association in the Main Session Room, Saturday (4/5).

The Vice President further emphasized that the school was influenced by four things, namely the teacher, the curriculum, the facilities and the environment. "Teacher education is important" said Jusuf Kalla "The essence of progress is education and the core of education is the teacher". The science taught is now practiced only five or ten years to come, so if not taught the possibility of knowledge that develops in the next five or ten years, the state, education and nation will stagnate. The main burden of universities such as UNY is to prepare good teachers at all levels of education, with innovative and skill as an important thing. The Vice President hopes that UNY can contribute to the nation and the state by producing quality teachers in the future.

In his speech, UNY Rector Sutrisna Wibawa said that UNY was an ex-IKIP who remained focused on preparing education personnel and after being a university was given the task by the government to prepare non-educational personnel. "Currently UNY is ranked 11th nationally and is preparing itself for world class university," said Sutrisna Wibawa.
