April 2026 Graduation: UNY Confers Degrees on 835 Graduates with Hundreds of National and International Achievements

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held its Graduation Ceremony for Doctoral, Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Applied Bachelor’s Programs for Period IV, Phase 1 of the 2025/2026 Academic Year on Wednesday (April 29, 2026) at the UNY Sports Hall. A total of 835 graduates were officially conferred degrees in a solemn ceremony.

In his remarks, UNY Rector Prof. Sumaryanto congratulated all graduates and their families for their support throughout the academic journey. “UNY is also preparing to open study programs outside the main campus in areas such as Blora and Purworejo. We are even exploring opportunities beyond Java, supported by alumni contributions, including land donations in Pekanbaru and West Nusa Tenggara in collaboration with the North Lombok regional government,” he stated. The Rector also encouraged graduates to pursue further studies at UNY.

Of the 835 graduates, 47 completed doctoral programs, 128 master’s programs, 566 bachelor’s programs, and 94 applied bachelor’s programs. Female graduates dominated the cohort with 527 individuals (63 percent), while male graduates accounted for 308 (37 percent).

By faculty distribution, the Faculty of Education produced 135 graduates, followed by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences with 120 graduates, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences with 109, the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences with 99, and the Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture with 92 graduates. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Engineering graduated 85 students, the Faculty of Economics and Business 73, the Vocational Faculty 94, the Faculty of Psychology 12, and the Graduate School 16.

Academic achievements were equally impressive. A total of 15 graduates earned summa cumlaude honors, consisting of 12 doctoral and 3 master’s graduates. In addition, 458 graduates (54.85 percent) achieved cumlaude distinction.

The highest GPA in the doctoral program was achieved by Dr. Ganda Sukmara with a perfect 4.00 in Educational Management. At the master’s level, the highest GPA of 4.00 was attained by Seni Yuliarni from Early Childhood Education. At the undergraduate level, the highest GPA of 3.99 was earned by Leni Firda Kurnia Sari from Javanese Language Education, while Muhammad Khadra Fadhail from the Recreation Business Management applied bachelor’s program recorded the highest GPA of 3.92.

Beyond academics, UNY graduates also demonstrated remarkable non-academic achievements. During their studies, they collectively earned 596 awards, including 125 at the international level and 403 at the national level, as well as numerous regional and university-level recognitions. These achievements span areas such as academic excellence, sports, arts, and special interests.

In the context of sustainable development, this graduation aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), which emphasizes inclusive and equitable access to higher education. Furthermore, graduates’ contributions to the workforce and society support SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

One of the graduates, Endah Kartika, expressed her pride in completing her studies at UNY. She hopes the knowledge she has gained will benefit society. “This is not the end, but the beginning of a new journey. I want to contribute to society in line with my field of study,” said the Vocational Faculty graduate.
