Students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science, YSU won the 1st place in the Scientific Writing Contest (LKTI) National Scientist in Action (SIA) FMIPA ITS 2016, organized by Students Executive Board of Faculty Mathematics and Science, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember. The event is one of the great events of FMS ITS. In this competition was represented by Herianto (Science Education 2013), Anggistia Devianti Iswanto (Science Education 2013), and Dinar Indah Lufita Sari (Chemistry 2014), they are members of the Student Activity Unit, KSI-Mist, YSU.

Yogyakarta State University (YSU) held their first meeting with Yogyakarta Research Council (YRC) last Thursday (31/3). Attending the agenda were YSU Rector , the senates, and the members of YRC Main Meeting Room, YSU rectorate building. This was the first formal meeting between YSU and YRC.

Keluarga Mahasiswa Pascasarjana or Graduate Student Association (GSA) of Yogyakarta State University has just recently held Care and Share in Serut Public Elementary School, Gedangsari Kabupaten Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta Special Region. Though this class was conducted in the middle of mid-term examination, the students and the teachers still felt enthusiast to join the class. The agenda began with disseminating high nutrient foods to the students, then continued with getting acquaintance with the volunteers.

On Thursday, March 31, 2016, held at the University Coordination Meeting Room, YSU, Office of International Affairs and Partnerships (OIAP) and the representation of the Yogyakarta State University’s academic community received the visit of Dr. Dely Elliot as the representation of the School of Education, University of Glasgow. The event was opened by a speech from Vice Rector IV, Prof. Hj Suwarsih Madya, PhD.

In Indonesia, sexual education is still a taboo to introduce to children. This leads parents to be a bit conservative when explaining information related to sexuality to their children. As a consequence, children grow in confusion that makes them look it up on their own, namely on social media and the internet which most of the information related to sexuality leads to pornography. As parents have power, their attitudes on this issue sometimes inhibit the implementation of sexual education in schools. It requires the same perceptions between schools and parents regarding this issue.

Garuda Hybrid (GH) 16, a hybrid car by Yogyakarta State University’s racing team will be the only car made by Indonesian students participating in the upcoming International Student Car Competition 2016, right now is undergoing its test-trial.
“On this test trial, the driver of Garuda UNY Team (GUT) already conducted some routine exercises, three times on this week at the Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman. Along with this trial, the development is still going on to yield a maximum output.” said Teguh, as the chief of ISCC team.

Skillful hands playing plastic cup instruments on the table, followed with the strum of the guitar and clapping hands formed harmonic gestures and sounds. The vocalist sang a song accompanied by a simple yet unique rhyme. This unique orchestra amazed the audience to applause.

The lecturers at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMNS) YSU joined the Workshop of Active Learning in the Sciences, on Wednesday (23/3) at the FMNS. The speakers on this were occasion Allen Price, PhD (Associate Professor at Emmanuel College Boston, USA) and Ana R. Otero, Ph.D. DVM (Senior Lecturer at Emmanuel College Boston, USA).

A team consisting of Yogyakarta State University (YSU) students succeeded to grab a silver medal at Innovation Practices Education and Industry Exhibition 2016 (I-PEINX 2016) in University of Technology Malaysia, Johor, Malaysia (14/3). The students comprised Fauzi Solichin (Informatics Engineering Education), Indra Dwi Suryanto (Electronics Engineering Education), Mega Ayu Wulandari (English Education), and Amin Sri Wahyu Ningrum (Chemistry) under the supervision of Andik Asmara, M.Pd.

The Office of International Affairs and Partnerships (OIAP) YSU held a socialization activity on the program of internship for the achievers educational employees at YSU to UPM on Wednesday, 23 March 2016, taking place at classroom B OIAP. The content of the socialization was delivered by Retna Hidayah, Ph.D as the head of International Relationship Division OIAP. The activity was attended by Siti Amironah, S.T. (Faculty of Education), Ristina Rahmawati, S.E., M.Sc. (General Bureau of Planning and Finance), Jumanto (Faculty of Mathematics and Science) and M. Hendro Kuncoro, A.Md.
