Taking the Opportunities and Overcoming Challenges of the World of Work in Era 5.0

"Highly educated workers tend to be engaged in the formal, tertiary sector (trade and services) in urban areas. Notably, highly educated workers in the primary sector, especially agriculture, tend to decline, or in other words, there is de-agriculturalization in the distribution of highly educated workers. The open unemployment rate in the higher education group is urban and female," said Prof. Anwar Sanusi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, at the UNY Public Lecture.

The UNY public lecture with the theme "Opportunities and Challenges in the World of Work in Era 5.0" was conducted on August 30, 2023. 660 UNY students and alumni participated in this activity at the UNY Auditorium. Besides the Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower, the Head of the Labor Market Center and the Coordinator of Partnership Development and Labor Market Network were also present. Meanwhile, from UNY, the Rector (represented by the Vice-Rector for Planning and Finance, Prof. Dr. Lantip Diat Prasojo), Vice Deans for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, and students who will graduate on September 2 and 3, 2023.

Prof. Dr. Lantip Diat Prasojo said that through this public lecture, it is hoped that alums will be able to prepare themselves for the challenges of the world of work in the 5.0 era but also prepare themselves to be able to open opportunities for the creation of young entrepreneurs who can support themselves, their families and can create jobs for the wider community.

In the next session, the Head of the Labor Market Center of the Ministry of Manpower (Muchamad Yusuf, S.T., M.Si) described the Platform that supports increased productivity for young talents in the digital, social and MSME creative sectors to produce young talents in the digital and creative fields with relevant skills according to the needs of the times and can compete in the national and international job markets, as well as matchmaking between productive talents and job opportunities and building an ecosystem that supports increased talent productivity.
