Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has introduced a new PhD program in Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering for the 2023/2024 academic year. The program offers 10 specializations: electrical engineering, electronics, informatics, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, civil engineering, architecture, environmental engineering, and industrial engineering.
According to Dean Prof. Herman Dwi Surjono, Ph.D., this program aims to meet the demand for advanced studies in engineering, emphasizing green technology in line with Industry 4.0. The curriculum focuses on sustainable digital technology, fostering research and publications that address both local and global issues.
Graduates are expected to become researchers, educators, industry professionals, and consultants. The program features a blended approach, combining coursework and research to accelerate completion. The first semester covers theoretical studies, while subsequent semesters focus on specialization, publication, and dissertation. The curriculum is designed for a six-semester completion timeframe, with early assignment of supervisors to support timely research progress.
