Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) symbolically sends off students who will participate in community service and educational practice programs. The students received assignments in various schools, institutions, and villages. "Currently, UNY sends students through various community service schemes. For general community service, we send students to 5 regencies and cities in Yogyakarta and eight regencies in Central Java. We also have community service based on student domicile that allows students to run community service in their respective hometowns, such as Jakarta. UNY also sends students to participate in Nationalism Community Service Program in Palangkaraya, West Kutai, and Bangka Belitung. This year, we will also send a student to have international community service in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia," said the Head of the UNY community service and educational practice Service Unit, Dr. Ngatman, on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

"After two years, we send off students participating in the community service and educational practice program directly due to covid 19 pandemic. UNY and BPJS Kesehatan have collaborated to ensure that students receive health and safety support during the program. We ask students to maintain the good name of UNY ," said the Rector of UNY, Prof. Sumaryanto.

Sending UNY students to community service and educational practice programs is an effort to provide a real-life experience for students. By participating in the community service program, students have the opportunity to design activities that help answer problems in the community. The previous year, UNY students successfully ran tourism village management training, eco-printing training, and other community empowerment programs. Meanwhile, students who undergo educational practice programs will have direct experience teaching at UNY partner schools. With this experience, UNY students will be prepared to face challenges in education in quite diverse areas.

The Rector of UNY also hopes that students will inform the opportunities for further degree study at UNY in their respective assignment communities. UNY has a Past Recognition learning program that allows additional study opportunities for the community.
