UNY won as the 1st Rank of  Management of Higher Education Cooperation Data for Public Service Agency, the second rank of  Management of Cooperation and Facilitation of Higher Education Cooperation Report for Public Service Agency, and first expectation rating of  Integrated Service Unit for Higher Education Public Service Agency in the 2021 Diktiristek Award which was held offline and online. The award was received by the Rector of UNY, Prof. Sumaryanto, in Jakarta, Thursday (13/1). This activity was initiated by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Ditjen Diktiristek) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). Some of the awards given were the Kampus Merdeka Award, the Cooperation Award, the Public Relations Award, and the Journalist and Media Award. The awarding of this award is an appreciation of the Directorate General of Education and Technology to stakeholders from universities, partners (ministry, institutions, as well as the business and industrial world), journalists, and the media who have actively participated and achieved the highest achievements in supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Learning Policy on an Independent Campus and Key Performance Indicators for Higher Education.

Acting Director-General of Higher Education Research and Technology, Prof. Nizam, said that this program was initially held at the end of the year only for journalism and public relations awards because it was considered essential for universities and Penta helix collaborations. "This year, we added two new awards, namely the award for Kampus Merdeka and the award for cooperation," said Nizam.

He revealed that in 2022 the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program will be opened even larger and asked for support from higher education leaders to provide opportunities for students with full 20 credits. Also, the platform for collaboration with industry will be accelerated so that the connection between universities and the industrial world will be closer. By doing so, universities will be a fundamental wellspring of human resource development for the development of the nation and state.

According to the Vice-Rector for Planning and Cooperation of UNY, Prof. Siswantoyo, this achievement is undoubtedly part of the synergy of the leadership and all elements involved. "In the future, We hope to improve further as a world-class educational university," said Siswantoyo.
