Students of UNY Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty have developed a tool to boost the crop production. The tool known as Portable Sonic Bloom(P-SON). Students who developing this innovation are Aisyah Nurul Iqlima, Verawati Eka Yuliana, Fajria Haniifah (Chemical Education), Muhammad Faqihul Imam (Physics), and Ana Fitriani (Mathematics).

Aisyah Nurul Iqlima, student of chemistry education, explained that some farmer groups in Yogyakarta still use conventional or traditional methods by using fertilizer to accelerate plant growth. Unlike fertilizer, P-SON is quite practical and efficient. It has 10 cm x 8 cm x 7 cm box dimension. The tool mechanism is set on the use of animals sound that improve stomata opening.

“P-SON in environmentally friendly. There is no chemical substance and no pollution. P-SON is also easy to use. It has automatic activation that can be set at a predetermined optimal time. Using P-SON will also help farmer to reduce the use for fertilizer, “she explained.

It is interesting to note that P-SON basically is an improvement from Bio Harmonic Audio (ABH) tool made by  Nur Kadarisman, M.Sc.  The team has been supervised by Nur Kadarisman, M.Sc. (Witono)
