The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) organized a webinar titled "National Examination in the Perspective of Equitable and Humanistic Education." The event featured two main speakers: Prof. Dr. Sugeng Bayu Wahyono, M.Si., and Dr. Rukiyati, M.Hum. Moderated by Suherman, S.Pd., M.Pd., with Shella Marcellina, S.Pd., M.Pd., serving as the master of ceremonies, the webinar aimed to provide new insights into educational evaluation.
In the first session, Prof. Dr. Sugeng Bayu Wahyono discussed the role of the National Examination (UN) in educational policy and its implications for educational equity in Indonesia. He highlighted that since its abolition in 2021, there are plans to reintroduce the UN in the 2025/2026 academic year. Prof. Sugeng emphasized that national evaluation policies should align with the concept of equitable education to prevent widening social disparities. He also noted that the current UN, oriented towards national standards based on positivism, may conflict with educational decentralization and hinder innovation in learning.
The second session featured Dr. Rukiyati, who explored the National Examination from a humanistic education perspective. She argued that the UN often leads to a narrow focus on test results, neglecting the holistic development of students. Dr. Rukiyati advocated for an assessment system that considers diverse student potentials and promotes deep learning, rather than rote memorization. The webinar concluded with an interactive discussion, offering fresh perspectives on creating a more just and humane educational evaluation system.
