On November 26, 2024, a book discussion titled Kuliah Keistimewaan Yogya: 15 Topics on the Special Status of DIY for Students was held at the Digital Library of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The book, written by Dr. Haryadi Baskoro, co-founder of Forhannas, explores the special status of Yogyakarta from an academic perspective. The event featured expert speakers, including RB Dwi Wahyu B., M.Si, and Prof. Sri Harti Widiastuti, and encouraged interactive discussions with faculty and students.
The book highlights the Mata Kuliah Keistimewaan Yogya (MKKY), a course designed as part of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program for students in Yogyakarta. MKKY provides students with multidimensional experiences outside their main study program while deepening their understanding of local culture and society. It fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving related to development in DIY.
MKKY is structured around 15 competencies, each aligned with the special status of Yogyakarta, and aims to equip students with a deep understanding of its history, governance, and unique legal framework. The course includes both lectures and field research.
Attended by over 100 participants, the event was organized in collaboration with the DIY Regional Library and UNY Library. Prof. Sulis Triyono, Head of UNY Library, expressed hope for further collaboration in the future.
This book discussion served as a valuable reflection on the unique model of governance in Yogyakarta, with the aim of fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and expanding academic knowledge.
