One of the villages assisted by UNY's Technology and Vocational Education Study Program, Hargotirto Village, won the Indonesian Tourism Village Award from the Ministry of Tourism. This award is the result of the synergy between UNY and the community of Hargotirto Kulon Progo in developing a sustainable tourism village. "It's extraordinary. In my opinion, this is the achievement of the team, not only Mr. Joko's team (Head of Dispar Kulon Progo), but if we look at the tourist village, the assessment has 360 degrees of assessment aspects, so it means that the community is also helping, the business world is also moving. The media also promotes," said Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.

This development effort began with a joint FGD between the UNY Graduate School Team and the Kulon Progo Regent on January 24, 2022.  On August 6-7, 2022, the team and the community mapped the potential of tourist villages or villages in the development of the creative economy at the location of Segajih hamlet, Hargotirto sub-district, Kulon Progo. This activity involved the management of tourist villages, home stay managers, craftsmen and culture, and the Segajih hamlet community.

UNY Technology and Vocational Education Study Program has planned the Digitalization of Tourism Villages in various platforms. Virtual Tour, tour booking application, tourism potential information, travel assistance, strengthening foreign languages (English, Japanese, French, Italian, and Arabic).  In the near future, UNY's Technology and Vocational Education Study Program will conduct English language training and tour guide training.
