The YSU team which consists of Rizal Justian Setiawan (Mechanical Engineering), Ageng Widi Atmoko (Electrical Engineering Education), Ein Juliani (English Language and Literature), Dea Sakinah Hulfa (Physics) and Enny Dwi Cahyanti (Chemistry) secured the third place and won a bronze medal in the event of Johor International Invention, Innovation and Design (IIID Johor) Competition 2017 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia held from 8-9 March 2017 in Amansari Residence Resort, Johor Bahru.

To enhance partnership relations in the framework of institutional development by utilizing the resources related to the field of the Three Pillars of Higher Education and the empowerment of human resources, the Indonesia Defence University in cooperation with the Yogyakarta State University. The cooperation is applied in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two sides that was held in the Meeting Room of the Senate, the Office of the Rector of Yogyakarta State University (23/2). Upon completion of the Internship Program of the Faculty of Sport Sciences YSU with the Universiti of Malaya (UM), Cecelia Roannie, student of Exercise Faculty of Sport Center Universiti of Malaya Malaysia, gained more insight and knowledge at the FSS YSU especially in Physical Therapy Massage. Moreover, Cecelia claimed that she has got a lot of knowledge and experience that is 'totally new' during the Internship Program since 5 September 2016 until February 12, 2017. According to her, nowadays in Malaysia Physiotherapy is often found, unlike massage therapy that she got at FSS YSU.

Mr. Junichi Sakurai, a lecturer from ASO College of Automotive Engineering and Technology Japan, was amazed by the YSU students’ masterpiece which is ‘Garuda YSU’ electric car. It was stated by him when he visited YSU stand on the Indonesian International Education & Training Expo (IIETE 2017) in Jakarta Convention Center, 1-5/2/17. There are many colleges which participated in this expo.

Student of FSS (Faculty of Social Sciences) of YSU, Akhmad Fakhrurroji (History Education 2012) and Briliantoro Yusuf Ervanda (History Education 2012) has successfully achieved The Best Presentation in The 6^th International Conference on History and Society Development (ICHSD) (29-30/12) last year in Japan. This event is held every year by IEDRC (International Economic Development Research Center).

Every January, thousands of birdwatcher volunteers in Asia visited wetland around the city and collected the data of the aquatic birds. This event is then called the Asian Waterbird Census or AWC, which becomes the part of waterbird monitoring from the International Waterbird Census or IWC, which is coordinated by Wetlands International.

Yogyakarta State University (YSU) won 1st Gold Medal Winner in The 4th International Innovation and Invention Competition (IIIC) in 2016 at the Ambassador Hotel, Taipei, Taiwan (13-15 / 12). The annual event was held by Chinese Innovation and Invention Society (CIIS) in cooperation with the Asia Invention Association (AIA).
