UNY students from 4 different faculties, united into one team and successfully won the Bronze medal at the International Invention & Innovative Competition (INIIC Series 2 in 2019) on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Palace of the Horse Selangor, Malaysia.

This international engineering and innovation competition is looking for the latest innovations that are low cost and have practical solutions related to accessibility in a society. The UNY team succeeded in winning this competition with guidance from Dr. Pujianto, M.Pd.,  a lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNY.

The UNY Team, led by Asmi Aris (Faculty of Mathermatics and Natural Sciences), also has Astuti Naviah Apriliani (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences),  Miya Kurniawati (Faculty of Sport Sciences), Satria Rizki Ananda (Faculty of Engineering) and Anida Ayu Kintana (Faculty of Languages and Arts). The team successfully develop innovation under the title “Development of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) with Anthocyanin Sensitizer of Siwalan Skin (Borassus flabellifer)".

They want to develop renewable energy using conventional dyes. By using siwalan skin extract as a coloring agent in the manufacture of color sensitive solar cells or Dye-Sensitized Sollar Cel (DSSC). Because natural dyes are currently widely used as dyes on DSSC type solar cells. This research is expected to produce good efficiency and can be used as an alternative source of electrical energy in the future. (PD; Tj.Lak)
