The Bionic team of UNY students pioneered the development of Purwoharjo as an Eco-Edu Forest. "Through this activity, we want to contribute to the community in order to build an active, independent, and prosperous fostered area. On the other hand, the community is expected to be able to find and develop existing potential to be managed into real activities or develop activities that have been initiated to be more developed and useful," said David as team leader.

Purwoharjo is included in the Merapi Merbabu Menoreh Biosphere Reserve so it has great potential as an eco edu forest because it is supported by areas with high biodiversity of birds, dragonflies, butterflies, and plants. "We hope that this program can run well and will be sustainable until 2025," said David.

The eco edu forest program will focus on the empowerment and development of natural resources & human resources and aims to improve the economy and expertise in preserving the environment. A series of activities include workshops and training on eco edu forest, biodiversity inventory, creative economy, tree planting, sustainable guiding, and marketing of processed toga products.
