To form a collaborative and synergistic language and arts education culture, we need an eclectic approach that provides opportunities for developing various professional, personal, and theoretical thoughts with a balanced paradigm. In the context of education in Indonesia, the design of language and art education needs to follow the cultural vision of Pancasila and the vision of life that adheres to the values of virtue. We need educational institutions that continue to grow and receive support from all parties. UNY needs to encourage research with an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach. Prof. Suwarsih Madya explained this in her scientific oration at the 59th anniversary of the Faculty of Languages and Arts (FLA) UNY on 10 May 2022.

Prof. Suwarsih stated that in the academic world, citizens of language and arts education alike use language to discuss academic issues, both orally and in writing. "The functions of languages and art allow collaboration and synergy between citizens of language education and citizens of art education," she said.

"It is important to ensure that our students have the ability and skills to create art by paying attention to potential artistic functions at the end of the program. Then, hopefully, we can help them work as professionals according to the ideal graduate profile," said Prof. Suwarsih.

Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Arts UNY, Dr. Sri Harti Widyastuti hopes that at the age of 59, FLA UNY can make a significant contribution to the development of language and arts education and scholarship. "Hopefully, this faculty can continue to develop its potential by upholding the values to realize the vision and mission of FLA UNY," said Sri Harti Widyastuti.
