The UNY Retirees’ Association (IKAPEN) celebrated its 15th anniversary with a lively gathering at the Fine Cine Club, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The event was attended by UNY’s Rector, Vice Rectors, Deans, and Vice Deans, reflecting the university's strong support for its retired community.

The celebration opened with vibrant cultural performances, including Karawitan, Angklung, and the traditional Golek Ayun-Ayun dance—performed by UNY dance students and the IKAPEN Laras Budoyo group. These performances highlighted the continuing collaboration between the academic and retiree communities.

IKAPEN Chair, Dr. Sardiman A.M., M.Pd., expressed gratitude for the organization's growth since its founding in 2010. He shared that IKAPEN was initiated by 18 UNY figures to foster connection among retirees, and now serves nearly 1,000 members through regular health and cultural programs such as group exercise, a wellness house, and karawitan festivals.

Prof. Suyanto, M.Ed., Ph.D., also addressed attendees, emphasizing the importance of maintaining health and social engagement in retirement. He encouraged continued physical activity and participation in community activities as key aspects of IKAPEN’s mission.

Closing the event, UNY Rector Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto congratulated IKAPEN on its milestone and reaffirmed the university’s appreciation for the retirees’ past contributions. He also underscored the university’s commitment to supporting both human resources and infrastructure development moving forward. The celebration was a reminder of the value of togetherness, health, and meaningful engagement beyond active service.
