Future professional teachers have several characteristics namely having expertise in their fields of study, having professional responsibility and having a sense of partnership whose relationships are bound in their profession. Being a teacher means being inspiring, comforting, updating information, bridging interactive connection with students and promoting students as the center of activity. Thus UNY Rector, Sutrisna Wibawa delivered his remarks in the briefing for students who participate in professional teacher program stage 3 at UNY auditorium (21/8).
The briefing was attended by 879 participants from 16 field of study. They will be deployed to 95 schools including: 5 kindergartens, 22 elementary schools, 17 junior high schools, 2 senior high schools, 46 vocational schools and 3 special schools. All of schools located in Yogyakarta region.
“We have entered digital era. Transformation of knowledge and value goes fast. Therefore, teachers must be familiar with online system,” Sutrisna said.
UNY’s Vice Rector for Academic affairs, Margana point out the importance for teacher to maintain strong core competence. “The characteristic of teacher and student will be different on 4.0 industrial revolution era. Those in urban area have internet connection, but some of the rural area simply do not have internet connection,” Margana said. It is important to run learning process through personal experience from observation process, asking, reasoning and trial (observation based learning) to improve student’s creativity. It is also important to make student work in networking through collaborative learning. (rews)
