Efforts to improve the quality of education must be sustainable. For this reason, the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia held an Academic Selection Test for Teacher Professional Education in Position. This program selects teachers with a bachelor's degree qualification for the Educator Certificate. Therefore, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta has been appointed by the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel to become the PPG Academic Selection Test coordinator in the 2022 Position.

In stage 1, there were 390,231 teachers who took part in the selection. As a coordinator, UNY collaborates with 11 universities, namely Universitas Negeri Semarang, Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Makassar, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Negeri Padang, Universitas Negeri Medan, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha and Universitas Negeri Sebelas Maret Surakarta.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Margana said that this selection process uses a domicile-based test to maintain health for all parties during the current pandemic. “With this domicile-based test, we want to motivate teachers to improve technological literacy and independence. In addition, this selection model is also more effective and efficient and does not require a physical test center," said Margana. Furthermore, the domicile-based online exam is also carried out flexibly because participants can take the exam at their respective homes or at the place of their choice, taking into account the smoothness of the internet network and still following the SOP.

The Chairman of the PPG Academic Selection Expert Team, Prof. Syawal Gultom, said that the participants will be supervised by a supervisor who simultaneously monitors 20 participants through a computer monitor screen during the test. "A serious test participant must concentrate on the monitor screen because he reads the questions there, but if he looks busy talking, the supervisor just turns off the system on the participant's computer so that the test questions disappear." He added that the conditions for this exam in one room could only be one person. This setting also trains prospective participating teachers' literacy and education readiness because when PPG also uses the learning system, it will be a hybrid between offline and online.

The expert team has divided the questions into several packages to minimize leakage of selection questions and ensured that each question is only used once. Expert Team from Universitas Negeri Semarang, Prof. Budi Waluyo, said the test refers to seven graduate learning outcomes. The test will reveal the ability to carry out tasks professionally, formulate indicators of higher-order thinking learning achievement, master teaching materials, design learning, carry out educational learning, and develop themselves sustainably.

Secretary of the Selection Test, Sukarno, M. Hum, said the  Phase I selection test will run from 9 to 24 April 2022 divided into five periods. "UNY is not only the coordinator of the test but also the organizer of the tests held at the PPG Building, Language Service Unit, and UPT ICT," he said.

UNY deployed 135 supervisors in each session, and each supervisor monitored 20 people. All test activities are controlled from the control room in the PPG UNY Building, which can monitor participants' names, school origin, education office, district and province of origin. The Phase II Selection Test will be held in June 2022 with approximately 350,000 teacher from early education, elementary school, junior high school, and senior high.
