On Friday evening, May 16, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) hosted a solemn Reflection Night to mark its 61st anniversary. Held in the university's Main Assembly Hall, the event brought together university leaders, faculty members, students, alumni, and guests to honor UNY's enduring commitment to education since its establishment on May 21, 1964.
The evening commenced with a kaleidoscopic presentation chronicling UNY's six-decade journey, highlighting its milestones and contributions to national education. This was followed by a keynote reflection from Prof. Drh. H. Agung Budiyanto, Ph.D., who emphasized the essence of innovation as the capacity to generate and implement new ideas, whether incremental or revolutionary. He noted that such innovation stems from creativity—the ability to transcend conventional perspectives to forge novel solutions.
UNY's Rector, Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, underscored the significance of the Reflection Night as more than a ceremonial occasion.
